Microdrop 1.0: calibrate reference load error

#1

Hi Ryan,

we have setup the dropbot system and the hardware is working, thanks again for your work! Today we tested the microdrop v1.0 portable and encountered some errors/bugs. Maybe you have a good suggestion for us.

When we started the portable version the first time python tried to connect to the internet, but wasn’t able because of the lack of our admin rights.

  1. calibrate reference load
    The first pages are working. When the system ask for the RMS value the first time it hangs themself up/freezes after entering the value. We see the returncode 8 in the console.

  2. device load calibration
    The calibration works, we get the plots. When we click on the button for the plot layout the window opens but cannot be used nor closed.

Thanks for your help.

Have a nice day
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Hi Ryan,

we have setup the dropbot system and the hardware is working, thanks again
for your work! Today we tested the microdrop v1.0 portable and encountered
some errors/bugs. Maybe you have a good suggestion for us.

When we started the portable version the first time python tried to connect
to the internet, but wasn't able because of the lack of our admin rights.

If you can't connect to the internet, it shouldn't be a problem. Does
this give you an error? The only issue I can think of is that you'll
need to update the software manually (if it's on a USB key, you can
update it on another computer that has internet access). Please send a
screenshot of the console log when you are getting this error so we
can see if it gives any clues.

1. calibrate reference load
The first pages are working. When the system ask for the RMS value the first
time it hangs themself up/freezes after entering the value. We see the
returncode 8 in the console.

Can you please send us a screenshot of the console log when you're
getting this error? I remember Mindy reporting something similar, but
I've never seen this behavior myself.

2. device load calibration
The calibration works, we get the plots. When we click on the button for the
plot layout the window opens but cannot be used nor closed.

Again, is there anything in console log, or is the program just
frozen? If you were unable to perform the reference load calibration
first, it's possible that this might cause problems with the device
load calibration. I recommend performing the calibration in the
following order:

1. reference load
2. switching board 0 test (this is quick and if it fails, the device
load calibration will not work)
3. device load

Was the cause of the error where DropBot freezes after inputting the first RMS voltage ever sorted? I’m having the same issue on my end!

Can you send a screenshot of the terminal window when it freezes?

Hi Henry,

Can you try adding the change below to C:\Users\hb953\AppData\Local\Continuum\microdrop\lib\site-packages\dmf_control_board_firmware\__init__.py"
Note that the change starts on line 1134. This should cause microdrop to print out the command code and return code for the command that is failing.

@decorator.decorator
def remote_command(function, self, *args, **kwargs):
        '''
Catch `RuntimeError` exceptions raised by remote control board firmware
commands and re-raise as more specific `FirmwareError` exception type,
which includes command code and return code.
'''
    try        :
return function(self, *args, **kwargs)
except RuntimeError, exception:
error_message = str(exception)
match = CRE_REMOTE_ERROR.match(error_message)
if match:
# Exception message matches format of remote firmware error.
            command_code = int(match.group('command_int'            ))
return_code = int(match.group('return_code_int'
            ))
###################### add this line #########################
            [logger.info](http://logger.info)('comand_code=%d, return_code=%d' % (command_code,
return_code))
